Have direct contact for all media inquiries on behalf of the Township. 1) Interface directly with employees of the Township to provide accurate information to the media on a 24/7 basis if necessary. 2) Handle all press conferences and media events. 3) Communicate with the public through multiple media sources to keep them informed. 4) As an OEM team member, be available for any emergency that may occur in the Township at any given time when an emergency is declared. 5) Write press releases, prepare robo-calls, e-mail blasts and handle social media interaction. 6) PIO bears the responsibility of facilitating the process of supplying all media resources with redacted reports It shall be the sole responsibility of the PIO to ensure he/she requests and receives the weekly reports from the Office of the Chief of Police/Fire or their designee(s) and transforms the information into a brief paragraph/synopsis of each incident. The PIO shall be guided by all laws/guidelines governing the release of permitted information. The PIO will additionally consult with the various other township directors and department heads to supply the media with information as necessary. Send out daily/weekly e-mail blasts to keep residents informed as to what is happening in the Township. Maintain and update the Township website. Attend all Public Relations Committee meetings and work with members to promote the Township. Develop press releases to enhance the public image of the Township. Attend Township Council meetings during public comment to give updated reports on media activity. Be available to take photos at Township events for media distribution. You will be provided with the hardware and software, its maintenance, a dedicated phone line and office supplies required for facilitation of the duties listed in this contract within the budget parameters established by the Township. All hardware and software will be considered the property of the Township and will be returned by you at the conclusion of this or any subsequent contract with the Township.
