I. Inspection, Testing, and Certification Requirements a. Contractor shall conduct annual inspection, testing and certification of Fume Hoods and BioSafety Cabinets (BSC) to provide a safe environment for laboratory personnel in compliance with OSHA laboratory and other regulatory standards. b. All Fume Hood certifications will adhere to the current UNM standard for fume hood certification. c. Installation and certification of new UNM Fume Hoods & BSC certification will be billed separately and directly to the construction project.. EHS will pay for the annual certification thereafter in accordance with UNM guidelines. A copy of the test report will be sent by email to EHS within 5 working days of certification. d. All certifications shall be performed by contractor personnel certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). e. BSCs containing UV lamps will be tested annually for radiation outputs in microwatts per square centimeter at 254nm on BSC horizontal work surfaces. The data will be provided to EHS with the corresponding BSC test report. f. All BSC certifications will adhere to current NSF/ANSI Standard 49. g. All work is to be scheduled and coordinated with the EHS Representative to avoid unscheduled interruptions. Hours of operation shall be between the hours of 8:00 am thru 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday, unless requested by the EHS Representative. h. A cleanable performance evaluation sticker must be adhered to the Fume Hood or BSC when certified. Equipment that fails evaluation shall be “red tagged” for non-compliance and EHS shall be notified by email within 24 hours. UNM notification of non-compliance email address is EHSWEB-L@LIST.UNM.EDU.
