The intent of this RFP is to establish a contract with a licensed hazardous waste services provider for the purpose of collecting, transporting, and disposing of potentially hazardous, household chemicals from homeowners and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generators (CESQG) in Cayuga County. The contract will be effective for a three year term, with potential for a two year extension upon satisfactory service for the first three years. The County requires proof of destruction or recycling for all collected materials.
It is anticipated that there will be one fall household chemical collection event each year located at the Cayuga County Soil & Water Conservation District parking lot on County House Road, in the Town of Sennett. The collection event will be open to homeowners between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019. We anticipate no more than 320 cars bringing household hazardous waste (HHW) from Cayuga County households. All HHW deliveries will be by appointment only and pre-registration will be required for all participants.
In addition to HHW acceptance, CESQG’s may also be served through one or two milk-run type collection events. CESQG’s will be required to submit their anticipated hazardous waste inventories at least four weeks prior to the event. The target CESQG audience includes County departments and agencies, schools, municipal garages, fire departments and farmers.
Also, services are being solicited to accept universal wastes, such as fluorescent bulbs, in conjunction with the County’s E-waste collection events. The County has held two or three E-waste collection events each calendar year, typically one in the spring and two in the fall.
