Chemung County has been awarded a statewide interoperability communications grant to enhance regional
interoperability within the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions of New York State. The County is planning the
following initiatives in coordination with its interoperability partners Allegany, Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben
Counties:
• Geo redundant core sharing between Steuben & Allegany and anticipated future connection to the shared Schuyler/Chemung core
• Implementation of the national interoperability channels in the public safety frequency bands including UHF, 700, and 800 MHz bands
• Additional base stations to expand reliable public safety radio coverage to agencies within the County
• Replacement of the building at Mt. Washington site, and
• Various technical and management support services including but not limited to FCC licensing, Statement of
Work (SOW) development, vendor management, project management, and other as needed services. The County is also seeking assistance with defining a recommended governance structure that can effectively be used to govern the shared infrastructure, as well as technical support and assistance with the overall project implementation.
