GENERAL
a)This specification describes the minimum material and quality requirements for construction of one or more courses of HMA pavement at UNSPECIFIED locations in accordance with the contract documents or as directed by the Owner.
b)The work shall be in accordance with the NYSDOT Section 404 and the Owner’s directives.
c)Pavement construction includes but is not limited to tack coat, asphalt materials, joint adhesives, water, and transport, equipment for placement, compaction, all necessary labor, maintenance, and protection of traffic including temporary pavement markings.
Material Quality: Materials shall conform to the applicable requirements of NYSDOT Material Specifications. Unless otherwise stated in Section B of these Specifications, the State DOT material acceptance certificate(s) and number(s) shall be provided on request. The supply of sub-standard or non- compliant material by any awarded vendor shall be cause to reject the material and may also be cause for the County to purchase the material from an alternate source and charge the difference in cost between the bid price and the price paid to such alternate source to the rejected vendor, and to cancel the vendor’s contract in its entirety. The County of Chemung or any contracting agency reserves the right to inspect and test all materials. Replacement of non-compliant materials shall be at no additional cost to the contracting agency.
