2025-05 - Soil Health and Soil Restoration Services

The City of Albany invites qualified tree service contractors to offer proposals to provide Soil Restoration/Health Services to the City of Albany.

Work under this project will focus primarily on the historic beech trees in Washington Park.  These trees are priceless specimens, some of which date back to the original planting of Washington Park nearly 150 years ago.   Providing the best possible growing conditions is key to preserving these trees.  Many are currently growing in degraded and compacted soils which is impacting their vigor and vitality.  The City’s Beech Tree Plant Health Care (PHC) program is intended to help address these issues and restore these historic trees to optimal health.  This work is undertaken with the generous support of the New York State Department of Conservation’s Invasive Species Early Detection / Rapid Response and Control grant program.
