SECTION 1: PURPOSE
1.1 The City of Albany (hereinafter referred to as the “CITY”) hereby requests
proposals from qualified engineering firms to provide professional engineering
services related to the Tricentennial Park Geotechnical Study in the City of Albany.
Minority Business Enterprises and Women's Business Enterprises are encouraged
to submit proposals.
1.2 The ensuing contract for these services will commence in or about March 2024
and will terminate in April 2025, with the possibility of three (3) one-year extension
periods.
SECTION 2: PROJECT DESCRIPTION
2.1 Tricentennial Park is an urban park in Albany, New York built to commemorate the
city's three hundredth anniversary as an incorporated city. The half-acre park was
built in 1986 and is a popular gathering place for city residents and downtown
workers. Dedicated to Mayor Erastus Corning II, the park is the home to statues,
monuments and a time capsule scheduled to be opened in 2086. The park
encompasses the entire block bounded by Broadway to the east, Columbia Street
to the north, James Street to the west, and Steuben Street to the south.
2.2 Statues and monuments placed in the park include the following:
2.2.1 The first monument to be placed in Tricentennial Park was a bronze
replica of the official Albany city seal. The sculpture was designed
and created by Hy Rosen, a cartoonist for the Albany Times Union.
