The Corporation of the City of Yonkers (the “City”) is soliciting sealed technical and cost proposals to establish a contract through competitive negotiation with a qualified consultant to develop a Climate Action Plan (“CAP”) for the City that will provide a strategic framework for measuring, planning and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and responding to the impacts that climate change will have on its communities. The plan will convey both the overarching vision and a detailed roadmap to guide local efforts, including actions that can reduce energy use and waste, create local jobs, improve air quality, preserve our local landscape and history, reduce the vulnerability of people and property to climate change impacts, and promote climate equity. The measures incorporated into the CAP should address both mitigation and adaptation simultaneously to maximize benefits of implementation.
The City seeks a consultant with expertise in developing CAPs for other municipalities of similar size and scope. The final plans will provide concrete, data-driven strategies to achieve the climate action goals set within the CAP. The plan should also identify how recommended projects and measures could result in improvements in quality of life, build prosperity and enhance community resilience.
