1. The Orange County Employment and Training Administration administers the County's summer youth employment program work readiness program which combines paid work experience with work training (Program). It is the purpose of the Program to provide Participants with subsidized paid work experience, work readiness, training opportunities, continued supportive services, counseling, and opportunities for leadership, development, decision-making, citizenship, and community service activities. The goals of the Program are to facilitate strong links with employers, increase emphasis on acadeic learning as it relates to workplace skills, increase focus on youth development activities, increase emphasis on serving out-of-school youth, and incorporate longer term services with post-employment interventions.
2. The Program provides County-youth between ages 14 and 20 from families that have a family income of below 200% of the federal poverty level with paid summer employment for up to five (5) weeks during the summer months. Funding for the Program is offered through the NYS Office of Temporary Disability Assistance Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program.
3. OCETA seeks proposals from eligible agencies that are interested in developing and providing a high quality structured program.
