Please confirm if a performance or payment bond is required. If so, what is the amount? .......... Purchasing and Attorneys office to answer this question( I asked the County attorney to assist in answering this question, as most performance and payment bonds are based upon the contract amount and the actual contract amount of this contract won't be known until we see what the public brings. We don't pay the contractor until we receive a manifest that says where the materials were recycled or disposed of... so I think we are simply adding cost for no significant gain or protection here. I wish we could get together as a group (purchasing, attorney, DPW) to have discussions on items such as this, I feel we simply add certain clauses or requirements without understanding the reasons or what situations those clauses should be added) Typically Performance and Payment bonds are for "Public Works" projects is this a Public works projects or more of a service contract?
