Summary of Specifications:
The Rochester City School District (RCSD) is seeking proposals from local universities, colleges, and community organizations for summer learning opportunities targeted towards improving college and career readiness among grades 6-12 students residing within the City of Rochester. Priority will be given to Proposals that: • Help students develop an appreciation and confidence in their ability to excel and succeed in school. • Encompass in-depth study and creative, hands-on learning that fosters higher order thinking and real problem-solving as a team member, thus addressing 21st century skills. • Target students who are working at grade level and above (levels 3 and 4 on NYS assessments in the areas of ELA and Mathematics). • Include parent involvement activities and workshops that enable parents to better assist their students to apply for, afford, attend and be successful with college. • Incorporate meaningful field trips and the involvement of mentors. • Explore career pathways related to the area of study. • Have a strong plan for program evaluation of efficacy/impact. • Reflect an organizational partnership, including shared costs and continued relationship with RCSD. • Incorporate sustained opportunities for academic support throughout the school year. • Demonstrate effective evidence of past programs working with similar populations of students.
Programs must serve a minimum population of 50 students and meet for a minimum of 80 hours to be considered.
The selection will result in multiple awards of a 3-year District-wide requirements contract providing available funding exists
Summer learning opportunities are defined as camps, labs, field trips, campus visits, workshops, conferences or some combination of these.
