Specifications include, but are not limited to: In order to prepare for this summer employment program, the Tompkins County WorkforceInvestment Board is soliciting proposals for summer youth employment programs to serve youthbetween the ages of 14-20 years old, living in families who receive TANF benefits or in families whoare at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Proposals are welcome from for-profit, not-for-profitorganizations, and local governments.PROGRAM OBJECTIVES-To provide youth with a supportive, first time work experience-To train youth in skills that are currently needed in the labor market-To expose youth to careers, employers, and the world of work-Develop workplace etiquette and strengthen basic employment skills-To reinforce the relationship between what is learned in an academic setting and the skills that areacquired on the job-To support youth in maintaining and enhancing their basic educational skills-To encourage youth to complete high school and pursue further education-To focus youth on contributing to the community in positive ways-To provide an entry point into the workforce development system for disconnected youth
