Remove all existing roof coverings, including Porches and Additions, down to the decking and remove from site. For venting purposes, on upper roof areas cut out and remove 2 inches of existing decking the length of each ridge. 2. Install 30# asphalt saturated felt over the entire area (except where snow and ice shield to be installed), leaving a 2-inch opening the length of the ridge on upper roof areas. Install 2-inch white aluminum drip edge at all eaves and rake edges. 3. Install to manufacturer’s specifications, waterproofing underlayment such as “CertainTeed” Winter Guard, or equal, to all eaves. Underlayment is to run up roof no less than 6 feet on all areas equal to or greater than 3:12 slope. All areas less than 3:12 underlayment shall cover entire area. 4. To entire roof areas with a slope equal to or greater than 3:12, install to manufacturer’s specifications, UL Class A, Architectural, 20-year, 230lb., fiberglass shingles. Owner has choice of color. Staples are not an acceptable method of applying shingles. All valleys are to be flashed using a minimum 28-inch wide, 0.19-inch aluminum flashing centered in the valley and covered with 90 lb. mineral surface roll roofing the entire length. Valleys are to be of a closed style. Cut shingles back 2 inches from valley centerline. To ensure a weathertight seal, all cut shingles are to be sealed using glass-fibrated plastic roof cement such as “Black Jack” or equal.
