Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County seeks to award a contract through the solicitation of a Base and Alternate bid for the county-wide curbside collection of recyclable materials in Tompkins County, including the following: single andmultifamily residences, mobile home parks, and small businesses. The Base bid is for collection servicesonly, while the Alternate bid is for collection services and providing and maintaining 64-gallon wheelcarts to all residents within the service area of the bid. The Contractor will transport the materialsdirectly to the County's Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC) in the City of Ithaca. Recyclablematerials will be set-out in containers by residents and businesses. Materials will be collected in onestream (single stream) in the collection vehicle by the Contractor's collection crew. Please refer to theCurbside Recycling Guidelines for Tompkins County (Exhibit 1) for a comprehensive list of acceptableitems. This list may be subject to change at the County's discretion.The County is responsible for public education and promotion of the program to maximizeparticipation. The County anticipates that Commencement of Service will be on October 15, 2012. Theterm of the contract will be five (5) years with a possibility of one five year extension.
