Specifications include, but are not limited to: New York City Transit (NYCT) plans to replace the Monitoring Diagnostic Logic/Train Operator’s Display (MDL/TOD) systems (Units) currently used on the R142 passenger rail cars with 460 new self‐contained Units. The Units shall be form, fit, and functionally interchangeable replacements for the existing Units and shall not require any modifications to the existing cars unless specifically addressed herein. The R142 Car fleet is comprised of a total of 1,030 Cars which includes 412 A‐Cars that each contains one (1) MDL/TOD system. The existing MDL/TOD system on these A‐Cars is obsolete and not repairable. NYCT invites interested parties to submit a cost and schedule bid for the design and development, design review, testing, and production of the 460 replacement MDL/TOD systems (412 MDL/TOD system + 48 spares) to be used on the R142 Car Fleet. The first 20 Units shall be prototype Units and will be subjected to in‐service testing for up to one (1) year. During the evaluation period, it is anticipated that minor adjustments of operating parameters will be needed and allowed.
