The intent of these specifications is to furnish information to prospective bidders in order to obtain qualifications from interested developers related to the design and construction of an emergency shelter to house approximately 100 adults (estimated to be 20,000 SF) in Tompkins County. The design should prioritize accessibility, safety, dignity and inclusivity for all residents, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of the community. Cost-effectiveness, an accelerated timeline, and sustainability should also be considered. The shelter is intended to provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a particular focus on those facing significant barriers to accessing traditional shelters due to factors such as substance use, mental health issues, or past trauma. We are seeking to partner with a development partner that demonstrates a strong commitment to social responsibility, equity, and inclusion, and has a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. The selected developer will be expected to work closely with our Tompkins County team to ensure that the shelter is designed and built to meet the specific needs of our target population while complying with all relevant regulations and building codes.
