JB-0000000014-RFQ_QUAL_F - Identifying Unsafe Traffic Areas in Tompkins County

This project is part of the Ithaca/Tompkins County Reimagining Public Safety initiative, its goal being to reduce disproportionate contact between communities of color and law enforcement while increasing community safety. The Community Justice Center is tasked with carrying out the work of all joint Ithaca/Tompkins County plans under Reimagining Public Safety.

One of the many Reimagining Public Safety plans is to examine the results of officer-initiated traffic stop enforcement, including examining traffic calming measures that could be implemented to help reduce the reliance on officer-initiated traffic stops.

The expected outcomes of this project are to heighten the community and key stakeholders’ awareness of roadway and traffic safety concerns while unearthing new and community-based ideas for safety interventions that could be considered for implementation.
