Summary of Specifications:
Warren County owns and operates the Municipal Center, an 180,000 square foot office complex located at 1340 State Route 9 near Exit 20 of Interstate 87. The Municipal Center building was renovated in 1982, at which time the existing cooling tower was installed. The existing cooling tower is a Frick model CCC 700A evaporative circuit cooler which extracts heat from the HVAC loop for cooling purposes. In 1982 the office complex was also connected to the municipal water supply provided by the Town of Qeensbury. The previous water supply source was provided by two drilled wells, which are still connected to plumbing in the basement of the Municipal Center. Warren County would like to evaluate the most efficient and cost effective means to provide cooling for this facility. Warren County has identified three options to accomplish this goal: (1) replacement of the existing cooling tower with a new cooling tower that would be compatible with the existing system; (2) evaluate the use of the existing wells as a geothermal exchange in place of the existing tower, if enough cooling capacity exists; and (3) the evaluation of a combination of cooling provided by the existing wells and a smaller cooling tower if needed. Upon selection of the desired alternative, Warren County would authorize the completion of final plans for the project.
