Nursing services may include the following: • Create a medical plan of care • Follow physician-ordered treatment plans • Implement physician-ordered clinical interventions including ventilator care, tracheostomy care, G tube care and feeding, for example • Monitor and assess the mental and medical needs of the student • Oversee the health status of the student including checking vitals/blood pressure, temperature, for example • Address immediate medical needs of the student • Assist with mobility, seating, and engagement as needed • Manage medical equipment and technology • Administer medications and treatments • Change dressings, bandages and equipment as prescribed by physician • Assist with self-care and classroom routines • Assist with toileting • Employ emergency care and contact 911 as appropriate • Collaborate with family and medical providers • Document treatment notes that include start and end times each day • Complete and verify timesheets • Follow NC Board of Nursing Practice Act including technical and ethical guidelines/statutes
