Specifications include, but are not limited to: TERM CONTRACT TO ESTABLISH A VENDOR TO PROVIDE ESTIMATED ANNUAL QUANTITY FOR BULK SODIUM CHLORIDE on an as needed basis, (De-Icing Salt) to be used by the City of Asheville Department of Public Works, Street Division, for snow and ice control. 4000 tons Est. Salt shall meet AASHTO-M-143 specifications with the following exceptions: 1. Moisture content - 3% maximum. 1% penalty will be charged for each percentage of moisture above 3%. 2. Sodium Chloride content - 97% minimum based on dry weight 3. Supplier (contractor) must furnish one (1) "Certification" of Analysis which will reflect (A) gradation, (B) purity and (C) moisture content. Failure to comply may be grounds for rejection of the award. 4. Gradation requirements: SIEVE: 1/2" #30 %PASSING 100 (not less than 15%) 5. Non-caking additive - When shipped in bulk, sodium chloride shall contain an anti-caking additive. NOTE: A minimum of 25PPM of non-caking additive is required to assure proper handling conditions for the salt.
