Peer Support Specialists will each work 29.5 hours per week, one at the Greensboro Detention Center and the other at the High Point Detention Center. Both Specialists will help MAT program participants with their coping skills, provide reentry support for inmates being released, develop relapse prevention plans, and complete discharge planning that connects participants to an appropriate outside organization for postrelease care and monitoring. 3.2 The Awarded Provider must employ Certified Peer Support Specialists with Substance Use Experience, and they must be trained in peer counseling, life skills, and the impact of reentry on individuals. The Specialist must be qualified and trained to provide effective diversion and/or reentry services and maintain the confidentiality of program participants’ medical and justice involvement history. 3.3 Peer Support Specialist must demonstrate work experience in professional or peer service delivery with experience assisting participants in areas such as: • Self-advocacy and self-sufficiency • Obtaining vital documents for reentry • Case planning to include linkage in the following areas: vocation, education, employment, medical and behavioral health • Transportation coordination • Insurance and government coordination • Documentation • Crisis intervention • Life skills facilitation...
