Specifications include, but are not limited to: ● Create a medical plan of care ● Follow physician-ordered treatment plans ● Implement physician-ordered clinical interventions including ventilator care, tracheostomy care, G tube care and feeding, for example ● Monitor and assess the mental and medical needs of the student ● Oversee the health status of the student including checking vitals/blood pressure, temperature, for example ● Address immediate medical needs of the student ● Assist with mobility, seating, and engagement as needed ● Manage medical equipment and technology ● Administer medications and treatments ● Change dressings, bandages and equipment as prescribed by physician ● Assist with self-care and classroom routines ● Assist with toileting ● Employ emergency care and contact 911 as appropriate ● Collaborate with family and medical providers ● Document treatment notes ● Complete and verify timesheets ● Follow NC Board of Nursing Practice Act including technical and ethical guidelines/statutes Nursing supervision of LPNs provided by the nursing agency to include: ● Annual skills checklist ● Monitoring and maintenance of the status of each LPN’s state nursing licensure ● Ongoing professional development ● Access to nursing support and information 7 days a week ● At least 1 in-person supervisory visit during the year ● Additional supervision or monitoring as required
