The City intends to engage a firm to design and administer the construction of an addition to Fire Station 2. Fire Station 2 is at 2312 S. Main St. in Salisbury, NC. It was constructed in 1980 and serves the rapidly growing southwest section of the city. The addition to the station will include a decontamination facility with necessary appliances and showers to decontaminate firefighters, gear, and equipment after a fire. This addition will be approximately 2200 square feet with a health-wellness area, two ventilated gear storage rooms, and ADAcompliant restrooms and barracks. It will be situated on the southwestern corner of the existing building. Firms shall plan to construct and phase in the Project to minimize the closure of fire operations within the current fire station. The station is one story, and there are no stairs.
