1.1. Provide a professional liability/medical malpractice insurance policy through a reputable carrier that is financially sound and has an A.M. Best rating of at least A. 1.2. Provide a professional liability/medical malpractice insurance policy with separate, i.e. non-shared, limits of at least $5,000,000 each claim and at least $5,000,000 aggregate per full-time employee/staffing slot. 1.3. Provide a professional liability/medical malpractice insurance policy that designates the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the Franklin County Sheriff, and the employees of the Franklin County Sheriff as the sole additional insureds. Policy limits are not to be shared and are to be exclusive to the Franklin County Contract. 1.4. Provide a professional liability/medical malpractice insurance policy in which legal defense costs are outside the limits of liability. 1.5. Agreement to indemnify the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the Franklin County Sheriff, and the employees of the Franklin County Sheriff from liability. 1.6. Under the professional liability/medical malpractice insurance policy, allow the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, the Franklin County Sheriff, and the employees of the Franklin County Sheriff “consent to settle” authorization. 1.7. Hire licensed professionals with at least one (1) year experience in direct patient care, preferably in a corrections setting. 1.8 Hire certified medical assistants (CMA) with at least one (1) year experience in direct patient care, preferably in a corrections setting. 1.9 Hire state tested nursing aides (STNA) with at least one (1) year experience in direct patient care, preferably in a corrections setting. 1.10. Attain and maintain, in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Office, accreditation through NCCHC and any other accreditation requested by the Sheriff.
