1. Replace Roof - The existing cedar shake roof is deteriorated and shall be removed and replaced with a new roof. The existing roof, lathe, underlayment and decking shall be replaced. The existing rafters are to be reused. The new roof will be wider than the existing roof and shall require sister beams to connect to the rafters. The new decking shall extend past the rafters by 1" on each side. The new roof shall adhere to all manufacturer's specifications. Where specifications allow for multiple options in construction materials and methodologies, the Owner shall be consulted to select desired option. See Roofing Details for more information. 2. Replace Siding - The existing siding is comprised of board and batten. The existing siding shall be removed in its entirety, including the boards, battens and nailers. New siding shall be constructed using like widths and thicknesses of the boards and battens. The nailers shall be replaced.
