Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Ad Manager: • generates and tracks advertising sales, • identifies untapped advertiser markets, and • suggests feature story subject categories that may attract ad sales among existing and new advertisers. The Ad Manager will work with the Publisher and Editor to: • evaluate appropriate advertising rates and policies annually, • provide a run sheet for each issue, • secure signed contracts from each advertiser and provide copies of contracts to the City, work to connect advertisers with a graphic designer to improve upon or create advertisements, • generate ideas for enhancing revenue utilizing new products, including use of the new magazine website. Additionally, the Ad Manager provides quarterly reports detailing the prospects with whom contact has been made and results from those interactions, and meets regularly with the magazine staff to plan and brainstorm. The Ad Manager may add representatives whose commissions will be paid from the Ad Manager’s commission. The current Advertising Representative is a valuable asset to any Manager selected by the City, as she has longstanding and valuable relationships with current advertisers. Retaining her is encouraged. While editorial suggestions are welcome from the Ad Manager, Shaker Life does not run stories about potential or active advertisers in exchange for advertising considerations. Such a practice can lead to compromising ad rates and the City’s editorial mission.
