Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. Merchandise: Contractor must provide a variety of: (a) candy, (b) gum and mints, (c) bagged snacks, (d) cookies and crackers, (e) pastry items, (f) food items such as yogurt, sandwiches, soups, cereal, frozen and fresh entrees, salads, fresh fruit, etc., (g) ice cream, (h) hot and cold beverages, (i) sundries and miscellaneous items. Each product furnished must be a recognized name brand approved by the City. The City has a healthy snack program. Contractor shall work with City to support and implement industry trends and best practices regarding healthy and nutritious snack products, as well as campus awareness campaigns and initiatives. In general, healthier and standard fare must be offered in a manner that results in a ratio of healthier (e.g., lower in fat, salt, sugar, and calories) to less healthy products of one to one. The Contractor must provide products and product placement in compliance with the City’s healthy snack program. These program requirements are further described in Attachment A. B. Staff: Contractor must provide an experienced and qualified staff in numbers sufficient to ensure timely, efficient, hygienic and orderly performance of Snack and Beverage Vending & Micro Market Operations. Contractor’s staff must maintain proper standards of courtesy, service and professionalism in dealing with City staff and visitors. Contractor must designate an experienced and capable individual who will be responsible at all times for implementation of the Contract. This individual will serve subject to approval by the City. C. Vending Machines and Micro-Market Equipment and Merchandise Organizers: At the time of installation, all vending machines must be new or “like-new” (as defined in Paragraph E below), heavy-duty commercial, EnergyStar® v4.0 qualified, and of the latest model available from a nationally known manufacturer and shall be certified by the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) or be equipped with a device that reduces energy consumption such as VendingMiserTM,, SnackMiser,TM or equivalent; and any type of perishable merchandiser (cold, frozen, hot) be the most energy efficient model of machine available. All snack and beverage vending machines and any self-checkout micro market equipment shall include the capability to accept cash (or cash deposited onto a Contractor vending card), credit, debit, “smart” cards, and payment via smartphones.
