The Forest Service proposes to treat up to 7,873 acres utilizing variable density thinning (“thinning”), variable retention harvest (“regeneration harvest”), and a roadside shaded fuel break prescription. All prescriptions are to be designed to improve and/or maintain stand health, density, and diversity while also contributing to meeting the timber harvest and production goals and objectives of the Willamette National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan (LRMP). The project was selected for analysis to improve stand and landscape diversity, structure, health, and resilience while also strategically reducing fuels to aid in wildland fire management. An Environmental Assessment will be prepared to “facilitate planning, decision making, and public disclosure” in accordance with 36 CFR 220.7
