The 45th East Gravity Irrigation Project Phase 2 consists of re-aligning the West Center Canal closer to the property line and installing approximately 5625 linear feet of 48-inch CMP Polymer Coated and RCP pipe from 9th North to the north side of Iona Road. This includes a number of 72 diameter manholes, irrigation services, and relocating a grate/trash rack at the entrance of the piping. The goal of the project is to eliminate the open channel canal that is directly adjacent to 45th East which is a growing safety concern for the increasing motorist population. The pipe will cross five subpision entrances, four driveways, one railroad, and Iona Road where existing bridges/culverts will be required to be removed. The existing canal will be filled, compacted, and graded. This portion of the project is planned to be phase two of a three mile stretch of canal.
