Specifications include, but are not limited to: Secure experienced and qualified Contractor(s) to assist the Beaufort County School District in identifying, providing recommendations and permanently resolving recurring sanitary drain system issues such as sewage back- ups and sewer gas odors. Repair, replacement and addition of water supply lines, plumbing fixtures and apparatus. All work to be completed in accordance with state and local codes; Minimum equipment requirements: a) Pipe camera system – Minimum 150ft. length with locator and length readout. Lighted self- leveling color camera. Capability of capturing and transfer of video on electronic media. Please specify make, model and any special attributes; b) Water jet cleaning system – capable of cleaning lines from 1.5” to 12” diameter. 300 ft. minimum length. Please specify make, model and any special attributes.; c) System for inducing large volume of smoke or other non-flammable medium into vent/sanitary drain systems to detect leaks or damage to these systems. Please specify injection and detection equipment and methods; Drain cleaning standards: Sanitary overflowsa) Overflow resolution should be done creating as small as impact possible to the normal operations of the facility.; b) All areas should be thoroughly sanitized and ready for occupancy before contractor departs utilizing District approved methods, and providing the District with all SDS sheets of products utilized; c) Issues deemed repetitive by the District may require camera investigation to determine cause if no other compelling evidence has been collected. In these instances, camera should be first used to check on pipe cleanliness and condition with video capture active. Initial scan will determine whether cleaning is in order. Another scan should be completed after the cleaning to validate effectiveness. Report including verbal description of what was noted on the video/still pictures, copy of the video/still pictures, and floorplan of drain lines including distances is required in legible electronic format to document work.; Preventative drain cleaning – to be quoted on a determined as need basis Sewer gas odor investigation and remediation: a) Drain line repairs- Demolition of walls, floor, ceiling, etc. or removal of fixtures or equipment to access suspect area(s) requires prior submission of quote and written approval by the District or their designated Representative.; b) Due to the sometimes-elusive nature of these incidents, upon receipt of Work Order describing sewer gas odor in building Contractor should send someone to perform initial investigation to determine as many specifics as possible regarding location, time of event, and any other pertinent information.; c) When deemed necessary by the District, further investigation should be scheduled to avoid disruption of school functions. Many times, this would require working after the building has vacated to a point when the work will no longer be a disruption. Inducing and forcing smoke into the suspected portions of the system is the typical method of locating origination of these odors; d) Repairs should follow same criteria as above with repair estimate provided to the district.; e) Post repair testing as described in paragraph B above should be done to insure all source points have been identified and repaired.
