Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Columbia Water & Light Department (CWL) is seeking proposals from solar power suppliers, or other renewable energy suppliers, that wish to sell solar, or other renewable, electricity to CWL for a minimum ten-year period. CWL is a municipally owned electric utility that was established in 1904 and provides electrical service to over 52,000 customers. The current volume of annual electric sales is approximately 1.2 million MWHs, with a (summer) peak of 277 MW. This solicitation of proposals from solar power suppliers is intended to assist CWL to be compliant with City legislation as outlined below. CWL is a network transmission customer of MISO, and owns and operates transmission lines at 69kV and 161kV.
