Specifications include, but are not limited to: This is a square brick chimney with a current height of 105’ above the heating plant floor. 15’ of the height is located inside the heating plant. The total exposed portion above grade is 90’. At grade the exterior dimensions are 11’-3” square. The inside dimensions are 48” square. Brick is common brick with a buff color. In general, the work consists of performing exterior and interior masonry repairs consisting of tuckpointing approximately 2,000 linear feet of masonry joints and replacing approximately 200 bricks. The chimney will be demolished down to just above the lowest tension band. A new stainless-steel cap will be installed covering the complete cross section of the chimney with a drip edge. Clean, repair, recoat and caulk existing steel tension band. Remove existing cleanout door and door frame, no replacement required. The lightning protection system will be relocated to the new top of stack location. Check mechanical continuity of air leads down through lightning protection to ground. The south ground line will be repaired and relocated to the east side. The north ground line will have a new ground rod installed on the east side and be re-routed to remain outside of the heating plant. Apply Siloxane Water Proofing to the exterior masonry after repairs are finished. The concrete ledge located just above grade will be replaced as part of this project.
