Specifications include, but are not limited to: Work to include improvements consist of furnishing all labor and materials for pavement preservation, Central District, FY 23-26, and other construction activities as directed by the Engineer. This work consists of preparing the surface, providing, and applying un-cut PG 64-22 graded asphalt tack coat. A. Construction 1. Surface Preparation a. Thoroughly clean the surface upon which the tack coat is to be placed. b. Remove all vegetation and debris prior to placing material. c. All preparation work must be approved by the engineer and shall be performed just prior to the application of the tack coat. 2. Application Rate & Conditions a. Apply tack on all dry and broom-cleaned surfaces at a uniform surface application rate of 0.08 GAL/SY to 0.17 GAL/SY. The actual rate will be determined during the application of the bituminous test strip and shall be appropriate for the surface being overlaid as determined by the Engineer. b. Apply at a temperature of 310°F to 340°F c. The tack coat should be a thin, uniform coating sufficient to bond the overlay to the underlying pavement.
