Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the intent of Brown County Planning & Land Services (PALS) Department to purchase a drone (UAV) capable of collecting detailed aerial images and topographic data. LiDAR is preferred for topographic data collection, although photogrammetric options may be considered if processing time and software costs are reasonable. Some of the goals that PALS has for the drone include: • Inspection and topographic mapping of non-metallic mines (quarries, sand pits, etc) • Topographic mapping and aerial imaging of areas where developments have taken place (road interchanges or intersections, subdivisions, etc) • Data collection during and after flood events • Investigation into complaints for areas with challenging access • Identifying illicit discharge from private onsite wastewater treatment systems • Conducting site reconnaissance for survey and GIS mapping activities • Viewing environmental and other features on parcels of land that are proposed to be divided into smaller lots or subdivisions • Updating land use inventories • Conducting roof inspections • Obtaining footage of transportation facilities • Oblique aerial photography for use in plans and other documents • Produce aerial imagery that can be georeferenced and converted to orthoimagery • Mapping and photographing shorelines (oblique imagery, orthophoto imagery and topographic mapping) Drone Specifications • Given the needs for both topographic mapping and aerial imagery, the drone platform may use swappable payloads (LiDAR sensor for topo mapping and camera for photographic missions) • Topographic mapping absolute accuracy of at least 3 inches (vertical and horizontal) without ground control points • Topographic exports should be in the .LAS format and/or digital elevation model format • Image export formats of high-resolution JPG or TIF images • Video export • Flight time of at least 40 minutes • Mapping • Automated flight using pre-determined flight planning tools • Field-swappable batteries • Collision avoidance • Warranty of at least 1 year as well as technical support
