Specifications include, but are not limited to: New Castle County is seeking priced proposals from qualified and accredited Paramedic Training Centers to conduct a Paramedic Training Academy Class with the Emergency Medical Services Division of the New Castle County Department of Public Safety. Proposals are requested for delivery, coordination and supervision of didactic, clinical rotations and field experience and internship for a group of New Castle County paramedic students. The training program will provide students with the educational requirements needed to become Nationally Registered Paramedics (NRP), with the required supplemental certifications upon graduation required for eligibility for certification as a State of Delaware Paramedic. The intent of the Paramedic Academy Class initiative is to prepare several individuals to provide pre-hospital advanced life support care in New Castle County, Delaware. New Castle County is seeking to enroll 15-24 candidates in the academy cohort. Graduates of the Paramedic Academy must be able to perform the following minimum skills and procedures required for paramedics by the Delaware Office of Emergency Medical Services: 1. Patient assessment (primary and secondary surveys) 2. Obtaining vital signs including temperatures 3. Airway control (manual) 4. Use of airway adjuncts (nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airways) 5. Spine immobilization/stabilization 6. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation 7. Bleeding control 8. Splinting of fractures and dislocations 9. Endotracheal intubation (oral and nasal)
