Battelle Energy Alliance, LLC (BEA), Management & Operating Contractor of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) owned Idaho National Laboratory (INL), is seeking an Expression of Interest (EOI) from prospective offerors to support installation of the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE) at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) on the INL Site. The MCRE project is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Reactor Demonstration (ARD) Program Risk Reduction Pathway award. The MCRE ARD project is a collaboration between Southern Company Services (SCS), TerraPower (TP), and INL, among others, to provide integral nuclear data to advance molten salt fast reactor technology. MCRE will be the first critical fast spectrum circulating fuel system ever operated. MCRE will be the first nuclear experiment operated in the Laboratory for Operation and Testing in the United States (LOTUS) test bed, to be located at MFC.
