Statement of Need (SON) Precision Medical PM63 Aspirators Department of Veterans Affairs Wilmington VA Medical Center 1601 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19805-4917 INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND: The Wilmington VA Medical Center (WVAMC) is requesting a brand name or equivalent procurement for the purchase of Twelve (12) Precision Medical PM63 -PowerVac+ Intermittent Aspirators. This requirement is needed to replace equipment that are beyond end-of life and service life. Any place a patient may have bowel obstruction can necessitate intermittent suction. All hospital patient care services, including but not limited to the emergency room, intensive care unit, gastrointestinal, ambulatory care, and extended care center, must have intermittent suction. This equipment is designed for both continuous and intermittent use. Having a strong and long-lasting suction pump that will perform with the requirements we need at WVAMC. It has an oil-free, continuous lubrication system, a hospital-grade vacuum regulator, an anti-bacteria filter to stop contamination, and an overflow-protected collection canister. (9.6 kg) Suction canister: 2000cc (Disposable with float shut-off ) We need the requested equipment type because it meets our desired need of intermittent suction control and size requirement. The Powervac+ Intermittent Aspirator is smaller than our current units and it has the functionality to mount on a roll stand which will allow for easy storage and satisfaction from users. SCOPE: The Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilmington VA Medical Center requesting a brand name or equivalent procurement for the purchase new PowerVac+ Intermittent Aspirators to replace end-of-life-equipment. Training/Inservice requirement will be conducted during normal business hours of the WVAMC. Multiple in-service session will be accommodated for the various department.
