Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) plans to build a neutrino detector at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. SURF is owned by the State of South Dakota and operated by the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA).
The LBNF will be contracting for Independent Inspection and Testing Services for quality assurance (QA) to verify the work being performed by the FNAL Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) and its subcontractors. The Inspection and Test Services will be performed on a sample basis. It is estimated that 10% of the CM/GC’s work will be verified by the independent inspection and testing services.
Subcontractor to provide all necessary tools, equipment, and materials (when requested), labor and supervision to perform the work. Provide inspection and testing of earthwork, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel welding and mechanical piping installation. Miscellaneous items of work associated with quality assurance including, but are not limited to; laboratory testing, field testing, measurement and testing equipment calibration, maintaining testing logs, and timely report preparation.
Subcontractor shall provide services to support inspection and test efforts at the agreed-upon unit rates on an as-needed basis as requested by FNAL’s Representative. All inspection and test Technicians are to be directed by the FNAL’s Construction Coordinator (CC). In addition to providing personnel, Subcontractor will be asked to provide equipment and material required to perform the inspection and test activities.
