Background Information:
Most vacuum tube technology, modest Photomultiplier tubes (PMT) included, has been completely phased out in favor of solid-state alternatives (single-photon avalanche photodiode arrays); however, more modern is not better despite the implication. More advanced PMTs utilized on for prompt radiation measurement are being phased out and will no longer be manufactured. MSTS is working towards development a superior replacement technology before dwindling stock and resources are expended of existing PMTs. MSTS is working towards the development of a solid-state alternative that is ultrafast like PMTs and seeking an industry partner to collaborate with on development and commercialization.
Opportunity Description:
MSTS possesses the intellectual property and know-how to develop an ultrafast photomultiplier and is seeking partners in the development via Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). MSTS is available to collaborate with non-federal entities (NFEs) including Business, Industry and Non-Profits, Universities, and Government Agencies to leverage a broad spectrum of talent and capabilities.
Interested parties should contact MSTS Technology Partnerships and Intellectual Property Office via email with the subject line: Ultrafast Photomultiplier.
