FCI SAFFORD currently has a 1-million-gallon storage tank that is used to store the water to service the institution. The storage tank is a metal structure and was built in 2008.
In a recent inspection it was noted that the interior tank ceiling showed coating deterioration and flaking. This tank is equipped with an exterior ladder cage and does not have the wire safety climb. The interior ladder is in good condition however the safely climb has heavy corrosion. On inspection of the roof hatch there was visible daylight from inside the tank.
The Contractor shall be responsible for completing the following repairs and remedies:
1. Remove exterior ladder cage and replace with (2) 30ft wire safety climb.
2. Remove interior ladder safety climb.
3. Spot epoxy repair to the interior ceiling and ladder.
4. Install a hatch gasket
5. Install (2) OSHA confined space entry placards at the base of ladder, and at roof access hatch.
******The storage tank will need to stay in service while repairs are being performed.******
