RODENT INFESTATION WASTE CLEANUP AT LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA
This project requires a hazard material specialist to remove all affected
building materials and rat carcasses from the ranger station including but not limited to roofing
insulation, ceiling tiles, HVAC ducting, IT hardware, and lights that cannot be cleaned. The walls,
carpeting, and furnishings will need to be protected or moved from the building during the process to
prevent further contamination. Contractor will assure removal meets all federal and state guidelines
and regulations to assure the safety of the crew performing the removals and the construction
contractors.
The next phase will require the roof to be insulated with closed cell spray foam insulation, new
insulated HVAC ducting installed, and a false drywall ceiling to be constructed against the roofing
trusses to create a closed space in case of future infestations. New electrical conduit, romex, and IT
cabling would be hung against the false ceiling and below that a new grid tile ceiling would be
installed for access to the utilities. The grid lighting and registers would then be reinstalled. Any
damage to the walls would be repaired and painted for a finished appearance.
