This Blanket Purchase Agreement opportunity is for the 316th FSS requiring Mortuary Services for preparation of deceased Active-Duty personnel. The contractor shall be responsible for providing mortuary services and professional care ensuring complete disinfection, preservation, and restoration of the remains. The contractor shall practice hygienic measures that comply with applicable local, state and Federal laws. The funeral home must be licensed to operate in the state where it is located, and its staff must be licensed and certified to perform mortuary services. This includes having certified funeral directors and embalmers on staff. In addition, the contractor must comply with all state and federal regulations regarding the handling of human remains. This includes following proper procedures for embalming, transportation, and storage of remains, as well as maintaining proper records. The staff must be able to obtain the necessary security clearance to handle the remains of military personnel. This may involve background checks and other security screenings. The funeral home shall have experience in providing mortuary services to military personnel and be familiar with military protocols and procedures. This may include working with military honor guards, coordinating funeral arrangements with the family and military officials, and providing grief support services to families.
Funeral homes shall be within a 15-mile radius of Joint Base Andrews Maryland. The Funeral home directors shall have valid mortuary and cremation licensing for the state of Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and District of Columbia.
