The Pagosa Ranger District (RD) Office located in Pagosa Springs, CO was built in the late 1960’s and recently remodeled in 2018. Due to increased recreation in the area, the Pagosa RD Office has seen a significant uptick in visitation each year. The main lobby of the building is used as a public space for community members to collect information about recreational activities, learn about the public lands in the area, and shop for Forest Service merchandise such as t-shirts, hats, gifts, etc.
The current design of the lobby opens directly to the rest of the building without a door separating the public from government employees, which poses a large risk to government employees and government property. The proposed project will help address this issue by installing several new walls and security doors with Lenel card readers that separate the main lobby and Visitor Information Services (VIS) area from the rest of the building. If funding allows, various optional items will be awarded to the Contractor. Optional items include installing several security cameras around the building, installing an additional Lenel card reader for the front door, and installing a remote lock for the front door.
