Specifications include, but are not limited to: Maple flooring systems shall be used in gymnasiums for Middle Schools and High Schools and at stages or platforms for Elementary and Middle Schools. An athletic flooring assembly usually consists of hard maple strips installed over a subfloor system, included for shock-absorbing, energy-rebounding, and sound deadening characteristics. Laminated oak flooring or parquet- block shall not be used. Substrate moisture test shall be performed and within manufacturer s written recommendations before any flooring is installed. Supplier Qualifications: 1. Supplier of wood flooring shall be Horner Flooring Company, Acer or Approved Equal. 2. Manufacturer of the floor system shall be nationally recognized and a current member of the MFMA. Installer Qualifications: 1. Flooring contractor shall be a firm experienced in maple flooring systems and has been in business for a minimum of ten consecutive years. 2. Submit a list of three completed projects similar in size and scope to the specified system. Flooring shall be stored on the premises a minimum of fourteen (14) days before installation commences, or as required for acclimation. Final determination as to acclimation will be made by the flooring contractor. All flooring bundles should be broken and loosely piled to acclimate the flooring to moisture conditions in the building. Provide the Architect with tests of the concrete slab areas to receive wood flooring. These tests are for moisture content and flatness
