Specifications include, but are not limited to: Salt Lake County, on behalf of its Division of Parks & Recreation “County” is soliciting proposals from qualified firms “Proposer/Contractor” to conduct a full inventory of its urban forest, and its trees. The County’s urban forests are critical to a positive living environment and quality of life, provide oxygen to breathe, create blankets of shade and break up urban heat environments, contribute to improved air quality and climate, conserve waters, are integral to our ecosystem offering shelter and refuge to many birds and wildlife, promote biodiversity, and provide generations of county citizens with places to climb, expand the imagination, cool down, and explore. Trees are some of the County’s longest-living assets and it is critical that we have an intentional understanding of the scope of our collective investment, as well as the current health condition of our urban trees, then develop the best financial and operational practices and a strategic management plan to ensure these assets are protected and properly maintained from the day a tree is planted, over the life of the tree, and, when necessary, at the time a tree must be replaced. 2.2.3 Contract shall conduct and participate in a kick-off meeting with the County to outline a process to conduct the Tree Inventory. The County will work with the Contractor to determine safety and communication procedures for the Tree Inventory and confirm project expectations and milestones so data collection may begin. 2.2.4 As part of the Tree Inventory, Contractor will perform a tree inventory to collect tree data and various site attributes. Arborist must use the County’s tree inventory system, Forest Metrix (forestmetrix.com).
