Specifications include, but are not limited to: 24-INCH GATE VALVES A. Twenty-four inch gate valves shall be AWWA C515, flanged, ductile iron, resilient seat, rising stem with outside screw and yoke (OS&Y), 200 psi working pressure with packing. Clow, US Pipe, or equal. Motorized operators specified below shall be integral with valve and supplied by valve manufacturer. B. All surfaces of the valve gate shall be fully encapsulated in a rubber coating suitable for raw sewage services and conforming to ASTM C515. C. Valve stem and stem nut shall be high strength manganese bronze. D. Packing: 1. 24-inch non-rising stem gear operated and OS&Y valves shall use a conventional pull down packing of braided fiber. OS&Y valves shall be externally replaceable under pressure. E. Maximum flange to flange lay length of valve shall be 21.5-inches. F. Asphaltic varnish and coal tar coating are not allowed on valves. Interior and exterior exposed valves shall be furnished with all surfaces (except galvanized or stainless steel) prepared in accordance with near white grade SSPC Specification No. 10 removing all dirt, rust scale, and foreign materials. Surface preparation shall be done at such time during the assembly process as to preclude damage to the valve once assembled. Cleaned surfaces shall then be shop primed. Shop priming shall be with one coat of Tnemec N69-1255 Hi-Build Epoxoline primer, or equal, applied to a minimum of 5.0 mils dry thickness.
