Specifications include, but are not limited to: demolition of one approximately 11,000 square foot building with 4,000 square foot basement, one approximately 3,300 square foot Quonset hut, and approximately 50,000 S.F. of asphalt pavement. The work will also include abatement of the following quantities of asbestos containing material in the two buildings; 430 S.F. of floor tile; 70 L.F. of roof tile flashing; 4,100 S.F. of ceiling texture/covering; 295 S.F. of pipe insulation; and 4,000 S.F. of texture on steel exterior; as well as the removal of the following regulated waste materials; light ballasts, fluorescent lightbulbs, mercury thermostat, 3 TVs, 1 refrigerator, and 2 central air units. Bids are also asked to include unit rates for the excavation, loading, hauling, landfill disposal, and backfilling of approximately 2,300 cubic yards of petroleum contaminated soil that has been identified in the vicinity of the basement. A standard conversion rate of 1.4 tons per cubic yard should be used in estimates that require weight instead of volume. The Consulting Engineer will provide a soil profile for the landfill, soil screening services during the excavation in order to identify and segregate contaminated soils and will provide shipping manifests for the transportation of the contaminated soils. The quantity of contaminated material may be greater than the original estimate if additional contamination is identified during excavation activities.
