Specifications include, but are not limited to: This RFP includes the proposed expansion joint reconstruction of the existing Main Street Bridge located where Main Street crosses the Blackstone River. The proposed rehabilitation is limited to the southern portion of the crossing which consists of steel stringers supporting a reinforced concrete deck slab. The East Abutment existing steel expansion joint will be replaced with an asphaltic bridge joint. Construction will be completed in stages to allow a minimum of one direction of traffic through the work area during construction operations. A partial detour will be required during the first stage of construction. The Main Street Bridge consists of two adjacent structures, the older, north structure consists of a stone masonry arch, and the southern portion consists of a steel stringer superstructure supported by concrete abutments. The East Abutment’s existing bridge expansion joint on the southern portion of the bridge has failed with the steel components separated from the concrete deck and backwall at some locations. Temporary repairs to secure the existing components have failed on multiple occasions. The City has prepared this RFP to solicit bids to reconstruct the expansion joint to extend the life of the structure
