Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation/South West Land Office (DNRC/SWLO) is soliciting bids for pre-commercial thinning, and lop and scatter of 219 acres on the Clearwater Unit. Operating period: July 1 through October 31. Operations will not occur from November 1 through June 30 or when snow is present on the ground. An exception may be made in writing by the Contract Supervisor if favorable weather conditions allow. Bull Moose PCT must be hand-thinned using a chainsaw or brush saw to an average spacing of 12 x 12 feet (10 foot minimum, 15 foot maximum). Only conifer trees taller than 24 inches in height and less than 6 inches DBH shall be cut to achieve the required target stocking. Unit 1 (219 acres): This project consists of one unit totaling 219 acres. Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine dominate the unit, but western larch, ponderosa pine, and subalpine fir are also present. Some openings contain few trees while other areas are densely stocked. Although plot data indicates an average cut DBH in the 2 inch category, it should be recognized that stems in the 3-5 inch DBH size class are also present. In areas where quality 6 inch DBH or larger trees exist in the overstory, all understory trees will be thinned from beneath the crown of the overstory tree. At the end of each day, the Contractor shall be responsible for picking up and properly disposing of all trash generated as a result of the Contract Agreement. This includes any camps made by the Contractor’s personnel. Cleanup shall be done to the satisfaction of the Contract Supervisor. In terms of cleanup, the Contractor shall: (a) Keep the premises free from debris and accumulation of waste; (b) Clean up any oil or fuel spills; (c) Keep machinery clean and free of weeds; (d) Remove all construction smears and stains from finished surfaces; (e) Perform finishing site preparation to limit the spread of noxious weeds before final payment by the State; and (f) Remove all construction equipment, tools, and excess materials before final payment by the State.
