Specifications include, but are not limited to: Shaded fuel breaks will be 1 chain (66’) in from the access road, with one mile of work approximately a square footage amounting to 8 acres in total. Keep in mind each mile of fuel break will have various wood products from some sawtimber to mostly pulp and dead oak. Woody vegetation greater than 4 inches in diameter must be chipped and hauled off site. DEM foresters will mark specific trees to remain within the fuel break to cast shade on the understory. No whole tree skidding will be allowed. All hazard trees must be felled and removed off site. No log landings will be allowed. Roadside loading of forest products will be preferred. All residual slash that is not chipped must be in contact with the forest floor. RIDEM Forestry best management practices for water quality and protection must be adhered to. Successful bidder may need to provide a safety detail for management area traffic. No work shall occur on weekends. Signage will be provided by DEM to inform public of activities in the area.
